We we had a really good time. So just as a plug for these guys to just to let you know, last night I joined the wolf and wookie over at their podcast, and I was a member in the wolf den. We had so much fun. And we were like we just kept going like the podcast got really bloated to like an hour and a half. And like week we could have kept going. And I was like you know we got to do this. So today as we continue to text each other about the Mandalorian I was like guys, we got to return to like that session that we were having. So we said let's do it. Now tonight. We were so excited and hot off last night amazing episode that we said let's keep the good vibes going. So I said Listen, you guys invited me to your house last night Come to my house tonight. And let's finish this conversation. So plug for them. But gentlemen, that was so fun. Welcome to the Disney life podcast. That was so fun last night. Welcome to the show.

The Wolf:

Thank you, thank you so much. It's It's It's really wonderful to be in the Tiki Room. I gotta be honest, I you know, the whole Tiki Room idea and the wolf den idea. They kind of kind of go hand in hand and then sound really good together. And, you know, thank you for thank you for having us. You know, I said it yesterday, but I'll say it again. You've just been the epitome of kindness and graciousness and information. You know, the Wookie and I have really just truthfully enjoyed every bit of your community. And every bit of just, you know, getting to know more Disney fans kind of like us. So it's been it's been a blast.

Marc Valentine:

And I said this on your podcast as well last night that I love. I love the Disney creator community. I love how we all help each other out that whatever it is that we need. We're always resources for each other. Whether it's the community on Instagram, whether it's over on Facebook, or even in the podcast community. I love working with Disney podcasters but like we the three of us really hit it off. We're all kindred spirits in that not only do we love the medium, we love podcasting, but we love Star Wars we love Disney IP. So like Mandalorian Monday was like a no brainer for you guys to join us, Wolf and Wookie again. They join us every single Monday. If you're a fan of the podcast, but not a member of our Facebook community. You do not have to be a Patreon to be a member that just join us over at Disney LIFE podcast. These gentlemen Join me for an amazing half ever half hour every single Monday and we break down the latest episode of the Mandalorian. We wait till Monday. So it's not spoiled, right? We make sure that you've had ample opportunity to watch the episode, if not once, but like four times, especially with this week, we're not going to talk about it, which is really hard for me right now to talk about. Right? We said that this is how we started the day. We're like, Guys, it was my favorite episode. And it was great. But definitely join us this Monday, we will be back in the Tiki Room again live. And those are live. So those are video podcasts that we do over here, over there, over here over there. They're in the same studio, but over on Facebook, rather than just releasing on Spotify and Apple podcasts and whatnot. But join us on Monday. These guys are like it's a blast talking to them every single week. It's an honor having them as part of the community. It's honor having them on the show. But I said, Look, guys, we really got to get it together in a more formal fashion. And we got it. We got to do a Wednesday. So they were amazing. We had so much fun last night that I was like we got to do this again. So let's let's do it. Let's get right into it. I have to ask you. Normally we save our It is Friday. But normally we save our news for a special Friday Night Live. But this news was so hot. And it was like a real hot take today that it said the Internet aflame It was like wildfire in the Disney community. You guys already know what I'm talking about. I'm not really breaking it to you. And as much as I just want to know what your take is on it. But I want to talk really quickly about two things. In particular, as Disney continues to grow in terms of its attendance. I said this numerous time it's a chicken and an egg argument. People will complain about the services are at Disney and yet there was not very high visitation numbers. I said if you go it's like Field of Dreams. Like if you go like if you build it, they will come if you go to Disney, they're going to continue to raise the stakes, they're going to continue to open stuff up and today oh boy did they do that in a big way. Because as a part of their phased reopening Walt Disney World Resort announced today that effective starting January 1 of 2021 guests who purchased a ticket or an annual pass with the park hopper option, will now be able to visit more than one Park per day, which is brand new, they had the park pass system. But you can only go once there are some modifications to the park hopper. So it's not your traditional Park hopper. It's changed as such that guests must still make a parkpass reservation and they have to attend the park pass reservation that they have made for that day. So they have to check into the park pass. So if you've made a Magic Kingdom reservation, you have to go to the Magic Kingdom first. And then later that day. Additionally, what they set up that park hopper takes effect at 2pm the same day. So you cannot park hop prior to 2pm. So you have to go to your first Park reservation, and then at 2pm to close, you then have the option of going to another Park. No additional reservation at this time is required. But they had a big Asterix with that that it is obviously contingent upon Park availability so that they're still going to have Park attendance numbers, they're going to track attendance live. If the park has reached capacity, then the park hopper is obviously suspended. But this was huge. Like this was really big news. People were very happy that park Hopper was reinstated. I guess well, like let's just go around the world with this and Wookie? Let's start with you. When you saw that today, like what was your reaction? What are your thoughts on the new system? So you know, are there? Is there anything that you think that needs to be still in like implemented? Is it not quite there yet?

The Wookie:

I'm very happy. I actually, I literally fly out on the first of January to Disney so that I like the day this starts is the day I'm going to be arriving, which was like fantastic news. Because we've been trying to figure out like, where do we eat? Where do we, you know, where are we going? I'm trying to plan it all out. And it's just really difficult only being able to go to one. So like if we go to the park there in the day, I can't go eat at Epcot at night, which is obviously a big pain like, Where else do you go? So then you go to go to Disney Springs, if that's that capacity capacity. You're, you know, you're out of luck, then what? You know what I mean? It's just a giant gamble. So I'm very, very excited that this is happening.

Marc Valentine:

It's so funny. You are saying everything that I said from my August trip when I came back. The hardest thing about not having Park hopping. It's not the attraction in the attractions and the rides in as much as it's dying.

The Wookie:

Exactly.

Marc Valentine:

There are some parks that you obviously gravitate towards more so than others when it comes to dining. So for us, Epcot has always been our go to dining option and the fact that you had to have your park pass for Epcot, it limited what we were able to do in dining in Epcot because we we were like listen, we're not going to waste more than two park pass days on Epcot because there's just not enough attractions with all of the construction. But then we felt bad because our favorite dining options are there. So with the restoration of this as Epcot, likely being the least populated of the parks, there's a good chance that you're going to be able to get in to dining at that. So like, I agree with everything you just said, What do you think?

The Wolf:

Well, you know, this is so when when we went recently, this was my biggest, you know, quarrel with Disney was I can go to the park that I have the reservation for. And then I can I can leave, I could go to Walmart, I could go, you know, the Texas Roadhouse down the road, eat and then come back. It just didn't make any sense to me. So I had been I had been preaching to the Wookie during our show, hey, you know, I really wish they'd bring Park hopper back because when I want to go eat, I want to go back to Epcot or I want to go over to Magic Kingdom, after I spent the day at Animal Kingdom, or the half day or the half day had at Hollywood Studios. This This was big news. Obviously, we know that. But I think I think it just sort of gives everybody sort of that opportunity to experience more of Disney and that That to me is what's exciting about it is the people who like us who have been seasoned veterans for a long time now can can go to animal kingdom for the half day that it is like we've talked about, and then we can go back over to Epcot, we can go to Tepan Edo, or we can go to chefs de France, and we have a lovely dinner. And it's not going to affect the reservation system or anything of that nature. It's it's very exciting to me, I think it's going to keep a lot of more people in the park. And it's going to keep a lot of people more in in that facility. I think this is big news. And if I were to think of something that is going to be the next step, the next step, the next thing that Disney is going to do. I think it's going to be the Fastpass system, I think and potentially, I think a dining plan also, and that's a great point, Ryan that it's going to start to evolve here. I think this is a really big step. I think this is a really good thing just in general for for Disney, Disney park lovers like us.

Marc Valentine:

Yeah, this was in many ways I think the keystone of the of the rebuilding process for them that this enables them to do a lot more at various parks because now you can you can get a flow of traffic that moves from one part to another for dining and for other things for just spending. I we talked about this last night, we said we do love the park, but we think the one park that is most affected by the park pass system is Animal Kingdom. Definitely. And unless you are a die hard fan of animal kingdom, and there are people that are diehards of it that they go from sunup till sundown. They love it, they stay there all day, they'll ride Expedition Everest like 10 times a day and not mind. That's not our family. And we we said this last night, that's not either one of you guys either. So we would leave Animal Kingdom at like one or two o'clock and not want to go back there. And dining. If we couldn't get Yak and Yeti Yeah, or you know, and we love Yak and Yeti, we love flame tree. But some of the other dining options in an animal kingdom are not really our style. tusker house was not open when you and I went.

The Wolf:

No it was not.

Marc Valentine:

So that wasn't even available, which we do like, but it was it was very limited in terms of dining. So that day, when we went in August, it was like kind of a bust day. So we only did one day in Animal Kingdom, because we could not Park hop, this coming back really puts Animal Kingdom back into the mix for us. Because there are attractions there that we love. But we also we've never spent a full day and night in Animal Kingdom. We always go back and swim. Sometimes we go back to see Pandora illuminated, but the park hours will still severely be limited. They haven't really said they're gonna they're gonna raise the hours of the park. They just said they're going to allow people to go after 2pm. So I think this is the Keystone like I agree with both you I think that this is the beginning of looking at either the return of some Fastpass system and the return of dining. I'm just very curious to see. I do not know if fastpasses will ever return in the iteration that we know.

The Wolf:

I completely agree with you on that. I don't know that it will be at the same capacity like it was. It will be interesting to see what sort of direction they decided to go with that. But I I do agree with that statement wholeheartedly.

Marc Valentine:

I think the probability if you if I were going to put money on it, I would say they will probably follow suit with what they had prior to COVID over in Disneyland where they have a Fastpass option, but they are not they're not free to use that they are an extra upcharge for guests. And I don't think they're going to be giving them out with annual passes. I think they're going to require an upcharge for them. I'm not like that doesn't upset me. I think if there are less fast passes being doled out because it's an upcharge, then the Fastpass line is going to be that much easier to navigate. Getting them is going to be a lot easier. So you're not going to have to wake up at Yeah, say like five o'clock in the morning to get like I got to get in the virtual queue. That morning to get like my flight of passage right Fastpass for my Animal Kingdom day. And I'm also fighting a crowd of people that booked it a week ahead of time and who's ever, you know, arrival date or predated mine like they're getting first crack? Exactly.

The Wolf:

So I've got I've got two sort of things that kind of come to mind here. The first one being sort of a question is, if they were to go to a system that does require you to pay, how much would you pay to receive those fast passes? Is there a high limit price tag? I always like to think about stuff like that, like, what's your what's your number? Is it 150? Is it 225? You know, 25 for all four parks, because you could park off. So

Marc Valentine:

yeah, so that I mean, the answer. The answer to that is, really, it really depends on how it were to be structured if it were a pass that. So let's say I were to buy a Fastpass. And that entitled me to skip and bypass the line completely on every single ride. Like say they go back to like on, like the ticket system, it's like, if it's an E ticket attraction, you get one Fast Pass on that ride per day, but I can walk on it, just walk on and anytime that I want during the day, and then the other rides, I don't have to wait online, you know, I won't have to ever wait for pirates, I won't ever have to wait for small world, I will ever have to wait for some of the you know, BC D, you know, the tickets that are more common. If you're saying that I would pay $100 for that, that I could just walk on rides and I never had to queue up. If it's like the system that is there now where I get three per day, and then I have to get others 20 bucks. Like I'd say that sort of 20 bucks a ticket, I'm not going to over I'm not going to overpay for something that they were offering free. It really would depend on how they structured it. And that's the God's honest answer. If it has value. If anything has value, I'll pay for it. You know, but if I look at it, and I say Listen, this is not worth its weight. Then No. And again, I'm gonna you know, I'm gonna come off as being rude to some people when I say this, I love minivans. I think they're amazing. But I got in on minivans when they were 20 bucks per ride. And then once they started to realize, hey, listen, these are a real commodity. And they were a minimum of $35 per per ride, no matter if you were going from the contemporary to the Magic Kingdom. Or, you know, you were going from animal kingdom lodge all the way to the Magic Kingdom. It was a flat $35 fee. I said no, that's it. Like that's, that's our tap out. That's our tap out like, I would pay for it when I had a longer distance. And when the Uber cost me nine, if the minivan cost me 20. I said, Listen, it's worth the value the kids like, I'm getting dropped off right in the bus station versus having to go to the TTC. But the minute that they are priced and I said look, you know now it has it's exceeded the value that I want to pay. It'll be the same thing with with fastpasses. From Yeah, but that's a great question.

The Wolf:

that's a that's a question that I'm sure the execs are asking right now. Like, oh, what should we charge for this, if that's the direction we want to go in

Marc Valentine:

so it Disney Disney gives out Disney super smart, because they give they give out a lot of stuff that I think they're starting to analyze and look at and say, you know, perhaps we should start to charge for some of these amenities. The one that really ticked everyone off is obviously the magic bands that they're going to scale those back and you're not getting free magic beans anymore. I mean, it really, instead of cutting them back, I think they should have just been a little smarter about them like because if you have a split stay like we would book we would book an extra night at pop, we would get magic bands for pop. And then the next day we're at Caribbean beach, and you get another set of magic bands. It's like, one not only is it wasteful, but that's money that that the company is putting out for the same. Right? So the same family, it's essentially the same day. Like we have so many magic bands, we have them displayed around the house like we like they're like their hair ties. And that's people look at that. They're like, Man, you guys go a lot. And I'm like, well, that's part of it. But the other part is every time we go, if we switch resorts we're getting we're getting eight or nine per trip, like that's a lot. So it's a little you know, and I think Disney is starting to say there are some areas with which I think we can make some smarter decisions and or upcharge because everyone else is. So I think fastpasses will be that. So like I'm psyched. This is the To me, this is the Keystone. And then to sort of piggyback off of the news today. They are opening. You know, Disney also announced later on today and this was broken by Melissa eckler on our group, by the way. So Melissa is our travel agent over at Disney life podcast she is with traveling with Lizzie. She has an advertisement on our show. She was the one that broke this over on Facebook. But the return of Park hopping was just the start of you know have extended amenities over at Walt Disney World Resort. On November 25, Woody's lunchbox will be reopening on December 13, the Crystal Palace will be reopening over in the Magic Kingdom, which is one of our favorites. The million dollar question everyone wants to know is will our friends from the Hundred Acre Wood be joining us? So it seems like it will not be and they've changed this dining style from the buffet over to family style dining, which they which they also did over at the contemporary at chef Mickey. This is I want to ask you guys this to about you know if you agree with me on this later on, but it looks like there will not be characters at this. And then on December 17, another fan favorite, the Tomorrowland terrace is going to be reopening, which is like, wow, that's been closed. That's been closed for a long time. So the tomorrow and terrorist is going to open because Crystal Palace is going to open. It looks like one not only are characters not going to be there, but it looks like the buffets are gone. Guys, do you think of buffets are just gone period at Disney forever.

The Wookie:

More than likely. I mean, it's just or at least until this all gets under control. But I don't see it happening for a long time.

The Wolf:

I gotta agree. I think you know, when you look at a place like garden grill, you look at you know, ohana, I think the two sort of are going to merge. And I think it's going to be sort of more of a family style. I also think at the end of the day, it's probably going to save them some money to, you know, when you go to a buffet, you're ready to grab everything. Whereas if they can control how much they're giving out, you know, to each table, there's got to be some, there's got to be some dollars there that they're going to be able to shave. And I think that ultimately, that's the way that they're going to end up going. So I mean, the garden grill does it right, and it does surprise me that Crystal Palace isn't going to have the characters of Winnie the Pooh and Eeyore and all of them because you could, in theory put them into sort of an area where they just sort of walk by so i don't i don't know that i agree with that aspect of it. But I I get it at the end of the day I get it, but it will be disappointing to not see them there because that's where they belong.

Marc Valentine:

Okay, so we're gonna take a real quick break, hit pause, go run and grab a drink, grab a snack and then when you come back, we are going to ask Wolf and Wookie their Mount Rushmore picks on a surprise topic. So I said to you's today when we set this up, I said listen, let's do Rushmore, but I didn't talk about what the Rushmore was so over over and again. So this is a game. This is a game that these gentlemen play over at their podcast, they have some really, their their their shows are just really fun. They're really really fun. I love the format of their shows that they have these really fun questions and a lot of it is based around whether it's Disney plus or Disney IP that they have their Mount Rushmore 's and then the very them you know, they do a lot of this or that they they they do these really fun topics, which is really what I love about their podcast is it really is sort of out of the mold of what a lot of Disney podcasts do, which is gentlemen what we just did it just just deliver the news. Exactly, but it was big news. So we had to do that. But a lot of podcasts just delivered Disney news. And then they devote, you know, five or 10 minutes to some banter. I love I love your banter. Like I love that because it's fun. Because it's fun. And it's just,

The Wookie:

it's genuine. I'll tell you that.

Marc Valentine:

Yeah, it's genuine. Well, but I know that you guys said what your podcast was intended to be was a conversation amongst friends. And that's totally the vibe that you guys have, which is what I love. I feel like I'm just sitting around a table a coffee table with a bunch of friends talking Disney.

The Wolf:

It really is. That's, you know, the whole point of it. And even last night, when we had you on our show, that was just that's the feel that we want to give. We want our guests to feel like, you know, they're just as important. And just as you know, their their opinion is just as important as ours. Yeah, it just it provides a really just a fun atmosphere. And then when the Wookie and I get together, we try to just think of things that that we think about all the time. So the other day, we put together a Disney school. So we had, who would be our teachers for math and history and English and you know, our music teacher, because we've all been in the school and we've all sort of all of us Disney fans have sort of thought like, who would be the best Disney principal, you know, in this school. So we just try to have fun. We've put together soundtracks we put together a draft fantasy football team,

The Wookie:

we've really got together we've done a UFC card. Yeah. Yeah.

The Wolf:

Yeah. So we just let's just try to have fun. And that's that's really at the end of the day, what it's all about.

Marc Valentine:

Yeah, quickly, too. And I'm really sorry for

The Wolf:

never forget her. And I'm just gonna, I think from now the torture that your art teacher put you through. That was cringe. That was like cringe worthy from so I was a teacher, on, I'm gonna call her Ursula because that was fitting term you guys know this, I was a teacher. So here I am. Like, I like I got mad when I heard that. Like, I got mad as an as a former educator. I was like, shame on that woman. She was awful on that woman for putting you through that. And I'll for her.

Marc Valentine:

And if you want the full story, go check out go check out last week's podcast because it was it was really like it was a really good moment. And it was it sounded therapeutic for you, too. Yeah, I think you got it all out.

The Wookie:

I was like, This guy gonna blow up on me right now what is happening? I

The Wolf:

probably could have, but I didn't. But yeah, you know what's interesting, and you talk about being on episode 50. And, you know, I think Mr. Wookie, we, I'm 38 That was my thing.

The Wookie:

Mark will be 40

The Wolf:

Okay, so then it was Episode 39. And it's so incredible. You know, when we started, we were like, Oh, you know, maybe we'll do this for a couple weeks. We'll see how it goes. And then all of a sudden, that was a weekly, a weekly thing. And we talked about that yesterday. So it's just incredible how quickly the week start to sort of roll by like, the more I think about it, we've done it every week since the beginning of March. And we're coming up on almost 50 to number Episode 52 which is almost the whole year so it's just crazy. You know how all that thing all those things sort of play into perspective.

Marc Valentine:

Yeah, if you have if you have a 50th celebration Just let me be part of the celebration.

The Wolf:

Absolutely, Absolutely.

Marc Valentine:

I love the milestones But yeah, I think you guys yeah, you guys are rocking and rolling and it's a great show. Check again check it out. So they do they do Rushmore is one of the many things they do are Rushmore sometimes I love I love order but there's other times I also love chaos and I love spontaneity, the order to this show, or like the scripted part was the news. The Chaos is going to be our Rushmore. These guys don't even know the rushmore that I've chosen for them. So guys, we did we did and you I loved it when you hit me with a Rushmore randomly last night it is not it but you gave me You gave me some outs too because you gave me anything to choose from so you said any Disney stuff. So it could be Star Wars. It can be Marvel. The Pixar it can be Disney, and I had to pick four. And then you know if you want to hear it, we don't spoil their podcast over here you go check me out on their podcast, check out my Mount Rushmore. It was really fun doing it. So your Rushmore tonight, and I'll give you a second your Rushmore is going to be Marvel. And as you're thinking about that, I'm going to say why take my Tiki birds. I'm really sorry. I'm really sorry that I I have been very neglectful of Marvel, you know, we have so we have our Star Wars podcast. And I said to these guys last night, growing up I don't I still don't fully accept Star Wars as a Disney IP. It is. And they have a long history with with Walt Disney World. But growing up I never associated to two. And now I love that it's owned by like my favorite studio, but I still don't quite embrace it in the sense of I just don't i don't marry the two together. I just don't think of it traditionally. Marvel for me is very much the same vein. the Marvel Cinematic Universe is still very rooted in my childhood and in comics, and in comic books. And those things were they grew up and they were cultivated with you know with Stan Lee and with jack Kirby and in an era where You know, like Marvel, Marvel and Disney were they were off in their own separate spheres. And so now even though Marvel is part of it, I don't marry the two but I also think for us guys, because we are sort of victimized by the contract with Universal Studios Orlando. We're not like the guys out on the West Coast out in Disneyland where they get Marvel, like, it's part of their Disney experience. We don't get it as part of our Disney experience. By and large, we get a we get a bargain basement StarLord meet and greet. I showed my friend this Star Lord like, Hey, man, you got to chintzy Star Lord. I was like, dude, let's give them a break. You know, they can't invest heavily into Marvel, because if they did universal would give them a hard time. Yeah, but we don't really marry the two together. So I wanted. I wanted to take time and say listen, Marvel is one of my favorite things about Disney. I'm a huge Marvel nerd. I grew up on comic books. My favorite comic book growing up was Ghost rider. Oh, by the way, I loved Ghost Rider. I own Ghost Rider, one and I collected and then, you know, obviously, as you grew up, you start to wane a little bit. So some guys never do. But I started to wane a little bit in my, in my, my collection of comics. And then I started to move to other other medium, but I was very into comic books growing up. I remember when a new comic book would be released. And we would rush to the comic book store over on jersey Avenue. It's no longer there. We had to get our hands on the latest Ghost Rider. And then obviously crossover events were like always huge. So growing up on comics was just a part of who I was as a kid. I want to do your top Four Marve Cinematic Universe charac er. I'm excited

The Wolf:

you and I'm in Yeah, and I can sort of sort of say that I was not on the Marvel train up until recently. And that was really due in part to Mr. Wookie. Who said you've got to watch you've got to watch these movies. You've got to get into the mix. And I watched them in the order that you're supposed to and definitely started to fall in love with the characters and fall in love with the stories I am still new I will I'll put new in quotations I'm still new to the Marvel universe but I've got a I've got an idea who my my Mount Rushmore of Marvel will be so I'm excited

Marc Valentine:

Have you guys have you guys done this Rushmore in particular

The Wookie:

we have we

Marc Valentine:

okay yes

The Wookie:

we started with just anything yeah and then we we broke it down to marvel then we did Star Wars then we did Pixar then we did Disney. And then we put the we actually did villains as well too. Yeah.

Marc Valentine:

So do you have any regrets from your previous Marvel Rushmore Oh, Are there going to be changed? Okay, that's what I want to know

The Wolf:

changes because the more that I could have been able to watch the more I've been like oh, I I gravitate towards certain I think

The Wookie:

we did this for you even started watching the Marvel movies because I remember like one of your picks was like Norman Osborn Osborn from like the original spider man's

Marc Valentine:

whoa Yes.

The Wolf:

deep cut.

Marc Valentine:

Whoa deep cuts that's a hot that's a hot that's a hot take.

The Wolf:

Yeah, it certainly was but I'm gonna change it up I'm gonna have it

Marc Valentine:

and I also don't hate the pick I also don't hate the pick too by the way because you will and Willem Defoe awesome. He was awesome. That that movie, you know, even even though it's Sony, it's still it's not MCU but it's still Marvel. Like as as a villain. Those the first two villains Willem Defoe as Green Goblin and then doc Oc from the first to like, they really they really like set the tone. Sure they established they really Alright guys, so Wookie I'll give you the honor to start us off. Give us your first and give us your first

The Wookie:

are we going one of the one by one. Oh, we do? One at a time. So I'm gonna go with just my obvious pick would be Thor.

The Wolf:

Great.

Marc Valentine:

Okay. That's a great pick.

The Wookie:

I love the hair. He's good at drinking beer. I think me and him which is fun. Yeah, me and him would have a good time.

Marc Valentine:

And I don't I don't hate it. You know what I love about Thor is of all of the Avengers. He could be the most serious like it. The way the property is set up and the way Kenneth Branagh kind of established it. It was very it was very serious. Yeah, I like Taika Waititi's his take on it. And I was not a great fan of Thor. I like the first one. And I liked Kenneth Branagh was opening. I thought it was beautiful. did not like dark world at all. It's actually one of my least favorite MCU movies. But then Ragnarok aside from the team up, movies Ragnarok is probably I'm going to surprise you with this. It's probably my favorite Marvel movie. So I don't hate your I don't hate your Rushmore.

The Wookie:

That's a great movie.

Marc Valentine:

And it's got such great replay, but it's funny. Yeah, and that's what Taika Waititi added to Thor that I think it was lacking and then Obviously that comedic that comedic point of view of of Thor continued through for the remainder of the films and then obviously, you know, like fat Thor was, was the culmintation... like that was the culmination of it. And that was wonderful. So I can't wait to see what happens to Thor. And I was glad to see he's sticking around for the next phase or at least a good chunk of it. Yeah. And I can't wait for love and thunder. Yeah, that's, that's gonna be a great really good pick

The Wolf:

really will be.

Marc Valentine:

Alright, Wolf, who do you got?

The Wolf:

So I am going to go in a very opposite direction than what I usually do. But my first pick is going to be Star Lord from Guardians of the Galaxy. I resonate with him a little bit. He loves the music, he sings he dances, he's wonky and Goofy, and I just I really enjoy his character so much. And he brings just that comedic element that you know, it's just it's just really fun love the banter, and the sort of in betweens that he has with his you know, cohorts is Yeah, is awesome. So StarLord is my first pick for my Marvel Rushmore.

Marc Valentine:

I'm not gonna so he didn't make it for me nice, but I'm gonna let you know, I He, StarLord got a hard book from me today, when I was making mine, okay, for a variety of reasons, everything that you just listed, but also he is so instrumental in the narrative of the Infinity saga. In that it's really his failings when he loses his you know what, and and like, he is the reason that Thanos is able to prevail in the in that first act of the Infinity War, because he loses his cool and he loses his temper because Gomorrah is dead, right? So I was like, you know, he really deserves a spot because if not for that moment, they probably could have defeated Thanos they probably could have got the gauntlet they probably could have beat him up. And and he really like because of that he kind of set things in motion. And obviously like he's just a fun character Chris Pratt great. Definitely All right, so I'm gonna so I'm gonna I'm gonna reveal one of the most for the audience that then goes back and listens to your episode. I'm really not gonna I'm not going to spoil it. I'm going to start with how I had your Mount Rushmore so I had this individual on my Mount Rushmore period. So I'm there's no suspense in it, but it's Captain America. So my first spot is Captain America. And he is such a big part of the Avengers. And like for me, that's it is it is there's two iconic moments in the series, the one of which is when he catches Moljner, and he's like ready to throw down. It was the most emotional moment he really gave cap and Iron Man the two most emotional moments in the finale obviously with the snap but also cap cap got two of the three scenes stealers, you know him him throwing down and then the transmission coming through and everyone pouring out portals. And he got that he got the line. Avengers Assemble. Yeah, and I'm like I I started throwing things. Oh, it's like so fired up. And then the other moment What do you that catches Moljner, I jumped out of my seat and I went crazy. Like cap cap is my cap is on my on my Mount Rushmore. He's also on my Disney Mount Rushmore so no shocks there. All right. What do you got? What do you got next Wookie,

The Wookie:

Tony Stark. I mean, he's just he's the man. I mean, what else can I say? He's, he gets the girls. He's got the cars. He's got cool. suits. I mean, there's no beating that. And I just kind of always agreed with him too. You know what I mean? Even like in Civil War, I was kind of like I was I was my Iron Man. Yep, me too.

Marc Valentine:

You got you got him to wolf.

The Wolf:

Yeah, I was on Team team ironman as well.

Marc Valentine:

I'm gonna be boring too. So all three all three of us have have Tony on our on our Mount Rushmore if you haven't seen you have to he's again he's he is the George Washington of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Although they credit the credit Hulk with being the start of it. The first movie they've kind of thrown away with Eric Bana. This was really the start of the Marvel Cinematic Universe but they see Tony Stark I am Iron Man. And again in the finale. You can't like Wookie hit it he hit the nail on the head like he is he is the end all be all. I'm kind of sad. There is a rumor out there that he has signed on for more films. None of it confirmed, obviously. But there was a rumor that after Dr. Doolittle did not do as well as it was supposed to that there there's a rumor going around that Robert Downey Jr. may have reevaluated his prospects moving forward without the MCU and the thing is is um, like fun. Fun fact growing up as a kid, I loved Robert Downey Jr. and it broke my heart to see him battle with demons like most people don't ever talk about the demons that that man has battled. Like I have so much respect for him,

The Wolf:

Ditto

Marc Valentine:

In his bat like he was like he was for a while going to Charlie Sheen route people people thought that he would have an untimely death that substances abuse would... So, so like I, I not only admire his character in Ironman, but I really have a tremendous amount of respect for him as a man,

The Wolf:

right?

Marc Valentine:

Who He fought back those demons, he has become one of the largest stars in the world today. And he's just from interviews to everything. Like he's such a great role model to say like, Listen, you know, I've been there. And I love the way he handles these interviews. When people bring those things up. He kind of reminds him that those those things are in the past for him and he's, you know, he's looking forward to better things. So I love them.

The Wolf:

It's a great story. It really is.

Marc Valentine:

It's a great story. It's a great story. All right, Wookie who do you got number three.

The Wookie:

I had, um, I had StarLord on my list, but I'm going to switch it up just because he's already been said, because it was kind of like neck and neck for me, but I'm gonna go with Drax. Okay. He makes me laugh every time I watched those movies, like when when he when Chris Pratt was in embarrased news, like, Oh my God, this must be terrible for you. He just is the comic relief for me. Which same with StarLord. So again, it's kind of hand in hand. But yeah, I just wanted to switch it up since he's already been said. I don't want to make it too boring.

Marc Valentine:

Yeah, I mean, he's got great comedic timing. Those movies are just really fun. Yeah, they're just really fun.

The Wookie:

Even him in Avengers when I was like, why is Gomorrah you're like, so dumb that it's hysterical. And that's why I had to I had to pick them. Plus I love him in the WWE. Yeah,

Marc Valentine:

I really, I really hope that he winds up whatever his beef is right now. I really, I hope that he winds up clean, clearing that up because it would be sad to see him depart the MCU he had a little scuffle about a year and a half ago that he was he was less than happy when James Gunn got fired. And now he's back. He's been brought back on. But he was really upset when James Gunn got let go. And he let it be known that he was not happy with that decision. So I hope he's I hope he's like back in the fold. And that he's he's good to go because it really is not the same franchise without him. I agree. Pretty got wolf. So that's a good pick.

The Wolf:

So we're on number three, and it does start to get pretty hard when you get into these last two. And for me growing up, I always just really loved this character I kind of wanted to sort of be like him, in a sense, and my my idea of spider man is different than a lot of others. But spider man for me is Tobey Maguire. In those original two you know two or three movies that were put out and Kristin Dunst is Mary Jane and I just loved their chemistry I love the story of spider man love how it happens I love you know that he's just sort of the the kid that kind of goes unnoticed in school and all of a sudden he's you know, got these superpowers and to me, that is just sort of the idea of a superpower like you can climb walls and you can fly and you can hit webs out of your you can beat up the bad guys like that to me is so cool. And spider man for me is up on my Rushmore. He is number three he

Marc Valentine:

That's a good pick.

The Wolf:

I think he's I think he's one of the coolest Avengers he's maybe not the strongest but definitely the coolest.

Marc Valentine:

So this was this was hard for me because like you and I it's so funny how close star I told you Star Lord was Star Lord was a really strong really strong contender for me. So my third really strong contender I wanted and I get it wasn't in the MCU but it's still Marvel and now that it's owned by Disney. So my third pick was going to be so Star Lord was strong Spider Man was strong. My third pick was going to be the Wolverine.

The Wolf:

Okay, good choice,

Marc Valentine:

but I went with something that was a little bit more off the beaten path which was Black Widow off as my third Mount Rushmore here and here's why she started really as a side character in Iron Man two. And then her and fury became so instrumental in in like all of these other films, but I love Scarlett Johansson. I think she's an amazing actress. Like just period very she's very easy on the eyes. But she also you know, she has it she has the chops, so she's not just a pretty face like the woman can act. Yes. And I and I have so much admiration for plus I love I love the fact that in her movies, it doesn't matter if she's a female character. I'm gonna come off and sound horrible, but I hated being beat over the head with Captain Marvel that it was like a female superhero. And I didn't I didn't like that I didn't like to have that sort of preached to me. I was like, Listen, I'm going to consume it regardless of if it's a female superhero or not. I never felt like we were beat over the head with Black Widow fans just embraced her and loved her. We weren't told that if we didn't like it that we were like somehow horrific human beings. And that's the one thing I just did not like the marketing around Captain Marvel. And I like the fact that Black Widow has, like she's always just stood out. She mixed it up with the boys. had so much appreciation for her. She's a wonderfully developed character. I can't wait for her film. To start phase four. She's she is the Iron Man of phase four. So this film that we have been waiting forever for is the launch for the next Marvel phase. Like Thanos is gone. The Infinity saga is over. Tony is gone. Cap has retired and handed the shield over. She's she really is the banner for the next phase and people like but she's dead. And I'm like, it's comics. No one's ever dead. Right? I said, if this movie is a standalone, truly a standalone, which I don't think it is, then then I'll eat crow say I was wrong. But I feel like she is going to be I feel like she is going to carry the mantle of this next phase, especially now that T'Challa is gone. Mm hmm. And there's a lot of there's a lot of talk about Black Panther not returning to the MCU because it would be it would be tasteless to have another person play that role. I agree with that.

The Wookie:

I heard they're thinking about having the sister takeover

Marc Valentine:

Shurri Yeah,

The Wookie:

only logical way you could pull that off.

Marc Valentine:

it's a very palatable solution. I think a lot of people maybe want it to rest for a little bit. Yeah, I'm on the other side of the fence of that, by the way, I think the way that you that you you honor his memory, and what Black Panther was able to do as a franchise, and the way that it was able to inspire, you know, African American boys and girls around the country, I think you should continue to have that representation in the MCU I don't think you should stop it because because of his passing, I think you should embrace Him, celebrate him and and say listen, we're going to continue to have you know, we're going to continue to have people of color in the MCU and we're going to continue to celebrate diversity in the MCU and have not just people of color in these prominent roles but directors directors producers, you know, and and and push that right and keep going further. All right, Wookie.

The Wookie:

I had Captain America. I mean, he's the leader of the team. He's like the heart and soul of everything. Even though him and Tony couldn't always see eye to eye they always ended up coming back together and making it right and doing the right thing. That moment where Tony hands him the shield back at in end game was really like kind of emotional. You know them fighting at the end of Civil War was like a huge deal destroyed the Avengers. Like you said, catching the hammer was a big deal show that he's pure. That wide shot was my favorite shot in all the movie where he just his shields destroyed. He straps it back up. He's standing there you got the ships and the whole army and Thanos looking right at him. And he's ready to go down for his country you cannot pick Captain

Marc Valentine:

when I was a kid I told you this. The first movie I really remember seeing in theaters was Return of the Jedi and the end of that film when the Armada assembles to take down that second Death Star The only comparable moment I could ever say that I had in cinematic history was that wide shot in in Avengers when Cap when cap straps the shield back on he suits up for like the last push. Like that was the only thing that I can ever remember in cinema history. Like where my heart almost came out of my chest. It was the culmination of 22 movies. That moment was the ... and you felt every single movie. You felt every single cutscene every everything just came into that. So listen, that's why he's on my Mount Rushmore like I love him. I'm excited for Anthony Mackie to be taking over the mantle of of Captain America. I'm really excited for the Disney plus big shoes to fill. But that's the thing. It's huge. It's huge shoes to fill. But I can't wait. I can't wait. But I always trust Disney. I think it's going to be a good thing. Score is going to be awesome.

The Wolf:

All right, we'll wrap this up. Alright, so I too wanted to go into direction. So I'm going to use him as my honorable mention. And I really, I really wanted to put Deadpool on my Mount Rushmore. He's probably I could but I'm gonna I'm gonna use somebody else and it's a it's out of out of the out of the mix pick. But I love Deadpool Deadpool is probably one of my favorite actors. I mean, I love Ryan Reynolds. I think he's funny. The movie is hilarious. the breaking of the fourth wall with Deadpool is probably some of the best writing. I just really enjoy it before Mount Rushmore. I'm going to go with Wanda witch and I'm going with her because I think I've started to really enjoy her character a little bit more. I like sort of the strength, the knowledge. I also think that she's very easy on the eyes. So that helps a little bit too when I'm looking at my Mount Rushmore, I might as well like what I'm looking at. And I just think that you know, she's super powerful, super smart, you know, always sort of had a plan. And, you know, I think that she's very, she was very, she was very important and she is still going forward will be very important to the universe. And I think that you know, with the whole Wanda Vision aspect that's coming out, I think that'll provide more insights into her. And that's why I'm picking her i think that i think that her storyline is going to grow exponentially, and there'll be a lot of fun to watch

Marc Valentine:

All right, I'm gonna I may surprise you with my last pick. So my last pick on on Rushmore is actually Loki Tom Hiddleston choice it's Loki and and here's why. Thanos is obviously the big bad it's the Infinity saga, but Loki is he is a recurring villain. He is the one who in numerous films across films really, really kept it going. And despite the fact that he is a villain, and he's dastardly, and he's awful. And, and in some ways, like until Ragnarok he's irredeemable. Right? Like, yeah, and yet you love him to death.

The Wolf:

He is he's a lot of fun. He really is.

Marc Valentine:

He's despicable. And the way and like it's so funny because you're like how can Thor continue to love this schmuck? And yet, then you realize you're like, you know, he I love him. I love him so much. And I'm so happy that there's the Wrinkle in Time and Loki is not gone right? And he's getting his own Disney plus series. He's going to be a part of phase four. He's just such a great character. He is in many ways he is the the most flushed out villain in all of these films because he comes back so much. You don't have one film it's not like you have him and he makes you know he makes a few speeches and and or he does something really dastardly and then he dies he gets to come back like we've grown with Loki right to the point of where the Loki now that we know it's almost cool that he got reset because the good Loki that we knew is gone like that Loki is dead. He got choked out there was no there were no revives for him, right. No, there

The Wolf:

Yeah,

Marc Valentine:

yeah, he's all done. So this loci that we're getting is like we're getting a clean slate with Loki so we get to do it all over again.

The Wolf:

It'd be fun. It really will be

Marc Valentine:

I love Yeah, so I love Loki. He's definitely as part of my...

The Wookie:

Loki good pic. Yeah, that's like off the beaten path. I wouldn't have expected that.

Marc Valentine:

So and again, he so my hard looks again a spider man, Spider Man, Wolverine and then StarLord where my if we had a choice those like you guys change from your last one? Yep. It depends. It really depends on the day or if I watched those films again, I could I could easily put those three on.

The Wolf:

Yeah, well, that's, that's the beauty of doing like little segments like this is it just gives you an opportunity to rethink it. Every time you do it. Your answers can change your your opinions can change. It's very similar to you know, the theme ride aspect that you did with with Dwayne, you know, ask those questions again, in a week, two weeks, a month, and you're definitely going to change because of an emotion because of how you're feeling. You know, oh, man, I really want to go on Everest today. But and then next week, you know what, I really want to go to Space Mountain. It's so much fun, you know, to sort of put those things, you know, into your head every once in a while. Yeah, it just helps with the mental health, I think

Marc Valentine:

I think so too. And listen, here's the other great thing. It also gives us a chance to continuously sit down and do this again and again and again and again. Exactly, guys,

The Wookie:

Mark, you guys deep cut. I almost picked because I read comic books, too. I almost picked Silver Surfer. I'm really hoping they bring him into the mix somehow.

Marc Valentine:

so fantastic. Yeah, so the Fantastic Four is common with the fox purchase. Fantastic Four is coming, x men are coming. That's the coolest thing about that merger of those two studios are the properties that for so long, they were separated. And they were not intermingled. Because if you read comics, like all of these characters are all over. They're all over like the mutants aren't treated as a separate threat. They're a big part of the MCU. So I'm really psyched for the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. I can't wait for phase four. Come on. COVID be over because we need we need our Marvel. Right? I need my Marvel back. But guys, thank you so much. Hey, super fun again. I we needed this hour to wrap this up because I felt like our last show was unresolved.
